'What Next' Overview

Once you have that hard earned PPL you will have a very good idea about your future flying ambitions. However, if your ambitions extend beyond flying in your local area and visiting the few aerodromes that you became familiar with during your training, you will undoubtedly need some advice and a helping hand if you are to achieve your ultimate goals. This is why membership of a club like SFC is important; a club who's objective is not just to turn out new PPL's but to maintain relationships and develop pilot members skills, confidence and experience so that they can achieve their personal flying ambitions.

SFC's activities cover a broad range of general aviation sectors that offer PPL's the opportunity to make genuine progress in their chosen area and in addition provide a social base that is second to none. The following describes several of the principal activities and facilities offered by SFC:-

SFC Self-Fly Hire

Build your hours and flying skills

SFC's competitive self-fly hire rates, superbly equipped fleet and Shoreham Airport's location provide a perfect opportunity for PPL's to build their hours and flying experience. Navigation, joining procedures, landing, take off and general handling skills can all be honed by visiting one of the many general aviation aerodromes in flying range of Shoreham.

Take a Tour

SFC's self-fly hire rates only apply to the the time between chocks off to chocks on. This cost effective system allows you to plan and make longer distance touring flights with family, friends or fellow pilots. If you are new to long distance touring our instructors are on hand to advise and help you with your flight plan. Touring is the perfect way to gain vital P1 experience, make new friends at the places you visit and above all enjoy your PPL qualification.

Share Flying Time, Costs and Experience

As a member of SFC you will meet and make many new friends with whom you can arrange to share flying time, costs and each others flying experience. In addition SFC are planning to publish a 'Fly-Share' scheme via this website that will put you in contact with fellow PPL's throughout the UK and abroad; further extending your contact base and opportunities to widen the scope of your flying activities.

SFC Club Flying / Social Events

Team Up for a Fly-In

One of the most sociable activities a PPL can take part in is a 'Fly-In'. Not only do they enjoy their pastime by flying to another aerodrome but they get the opportunity to make new like-minded friends. SFC not only encourage and organise this type of activity but our contacts and affiliations with other flying clubs / organisations ensure that our members always receive a warm welcome at 'Fly-Ins' throughout the UK and abroad.

Away Days / Weekends

All SFC members have the opportunity to join in with the away day / weekend trips that either the club or it's members organise. Quite often these flying breaks are centred on flying activities (e.g. Air Shows) or sporting events, however, a nice weekend trip to France or the Channel Islands also goes down very well.

Club Nights Out

Sometimes these are arranged and sometimes they just happen after a good days flying. SFC members love flying and love enjoying themselves; somehow a good night out is always enjoyed by everybody be they flying students, pilots, instructors or friends and family.

SFC Post PPL Courses

SFC offer qualified PPL holders every assistance in extending their flying skills and performance levels. These range from conversion and check-out in other aircraft types to advanced handling and aerobatics instruction.
